Good Thursday Morning, May 22, 2008

Hello Everyone!

Today is Thursday, May 22, 2008. It is a day #2.

1. Today begins the 6th grade two days of events that recognize and honor our veterans. The sixth grade teachers have put together another great program of visiting veterans, visiting current Army Reserve soldiers with an Army vehicle, an obstical course to be run, and a visit to the cemetery to honor veterans that have passed. Thank you to the sixth grade teachers for their efforts to honor our veterans and teach respect for them.

2. The spring benchmarking DIBELS assessments will continue today for the students K-3.

3. Next week, Tuesday-Thursday, we will be administering the Grades 1-3 Terra Nova Assessments. These are assessments that test students’ abilities and skills in the areas of Reading/ELA and Math. These important assessments help us to assess the progress students have made this year and they help us to determine the AIS needs for next year. Please encourage your student(s) to do their best, get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast on the days of these assessments.

4. Tuesday , May 20th was the annual District Budget Vote and the Art & Cultural Extravaganza, as well as the vote for a new Board of Education member. The Arts and Cultural Fair was a huge success and thank you for your support of the school budget. There were four candidates for the board seat and I thank all of them for their interest in school board and our local educational system. Congratulations to all for their efforts and a special congratulations to Susan Richards for her success in winning the position on the Board!
