Good Monday Morning, March 24, 2008

Hi Everyone,

It is a beautiful (but chilly) Monday morning in the Valley! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  There is no school today, Monday, March 24th, but I wanted to post a note to remind everyone of a few upcoming events:

1. The PTO Flower Bulb Fundraiser will end tomorrow, March 26th.  Please be sure to get your orders in.

2. For our 5th and 6th graders, our “Human Growth and Development Presentation” by our district Nurse-Teacher, Carrie Brand, will take place on Thursday and Friday, March 27-28.

3. Reserve the date, Friday, April 4th to attend the Talent Show sponsored by the AFES Student Council.  The show will begin at 6:30pm.  We have 26 performances registered between AFES and Holy Name Elementary Schools, with a total of 50 students participating.  It promises to be a great evening and the students are certainly excited to show their talents!  (Note: anyone that would like to help with this event, please contact me at: 647-5503. Thanks!)

4. Please remember the AFES Student Council’s “Pennies for Patients” coin drive to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  You can send in your loose change with any student or drop it off yourself.  The class that collects the most will receive a “Pizza Party” for lunch.

5. The AFES Student Council will be conducting a “Paper Recycling Program” within AFES.  This is the Student Council’s contribution to the “Green” theme of the Spring Concert, as well as to nature itself.

6. Also, remember the AVCS Staff Basketball Game, taking place on Sunday, April 6th, at 4:00pm.  This is a match between the Elementary Staff from both elementary schools of the AVCS District referred to as “Hulbert’s Heroes III” and the Middle–High School staff, referred to as “Marlow’s Magic II”.  (The teams are named after Mr. Kevin Hulbert – Principal of Keeseville Elementary and founder of the staff basketball games, and Mrs. Laura Marlow, Principal of the AVCS Hugh School.)  All funds from this event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

I hope everyone has a great day! – Dean Lincoln
