Good Thursday Morning, April 10, 2008

Hello Everyone!

I am very happy to announce the student council raised $809.96 for Pennies for Patients! Congratulations to the Student Council! And a BIG THANK YOU to all who donated to the coin drive.

It is wonderful the way the Au Sable Forks Elementary community - the families, friends, neighbors, and staff, support the students and the community with their giving. The student council hosted three benefits connected to the talent show and those three raised the following: 4 big boxes of food and dry goods for the local food shelf, $107.00 for the Nelson family who’s home burned last week, and $809.96 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the Pennies for Patients coin drive. We can all be proud to know that we are a part of such a great and supportive community.

Today is the last day of school for 11 days! Mr. Savage has announced that we will use our last snow day tomorrow to add a day to our spring break. Thank you Mr. Savage. The students and staff are looking forward to the break before we begin our last stretch of school: May - June. So there will be NO school tomorrow, Friday the 10th - Sunday April 20th. We will return to school on Monday April 21st.

Square Dancing! Mr. Gary Finney will be at our school Monday, April 21- Thursday April 24th to instruct our students in the art and fun of square dancing. There will be a PTO meeting tonight in the AFES cafeteria at 6:30pm.

Good Monday Morning, April 7, 2008

Hello Everyone!

Wow, the AFES Student Council Talent Show was a HUGE SUCCESS! The students enjoyed performing and did their best, and everyone enjoyed the show very much. Thank You
to everyone who was able to attend and support the Student Council and the other causes we were supporting at the event. We raised 4 big boxes of items for the local food shelf; we raise $107.00 for the Nelson family; and the Student Council raised a little more than $100.00 from the concessions during the show to support the AFES Student Council programs and initiatives .

I had said that I would announce the total raised with the coin drive for Pennies for Patients . Well, in all the preparation for the talent show and a lot more coins coming in on Friday, it was not possible to get everything counted in time for a final total. I can tell you that the preliminary total is approximately $750.00! Yeah! Thank you to all who helped by sending in your coins! I will report the official final total once all the coins have been wrapped.

The AVCS Staff Basketball Game between the elementary staff (Hulbert’s Heroes III) and the middle-high school staff (Marlow’s Magic II) was a huge success and a lot of fun for all! Thank you to everyone who were able to attend and support the game and the players. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
